Last night, I spent about three hours with three of my ladies doing nothing but watching Gossip Girl, talking about our hair and eating salty/chocolaty snacks, and I couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend my time.
To an outsider, this might look like a waste of time or a shallow pursuit, but you girls’ girls out there know how valuable it is and you wish you could have been there. Because, there are seasons and times for everything (turn, turn, turn), and girlfriend time is one thing we need to have a season for. But why?
Good girlfriends are happy for your happiness, empathize (and often sympathize) with your sadness, indulge your crazy, pull you down from the clouds when needed, and force you back into life when they find you lying in yesterday’s pajamas with a box of cupcakes (so to speak).
I’ve always needed girlfriends, and I think I always will, and I’m happy about that. Looking back especially over my adult life thus far, I’ve been blessed to have a good group of girls that I can trust. Sometimes they’ve come built-in because they were roommates, and other times I’ve had to do a little more searching, but it’s always been worth it.
I guess I’m just of the school of thought that God put us on this earth to take care of each other, and take care of each other we must. I remember specific times when I had a good chance of being very lonely, but somehow there was always at least one good friend for me to find that I identified with on an extra level.
So thank you, ladies, for supporting my theory. You are remarkable women (you know who you are) that have all taught me some valuable lessons and been responsible for some seriously fun times, becoming my partners in crime and all around saving me from the blasé. I can only hope that I’ve been able to provide those things for you, too, because girls, we’ve got a long road ahead of us yet.

This makes me happy. I love my girlfriends. No one can replace those kind of friendships.
I love my girlfriends!!! I feel the exact same way. My friends are still so very important to me and maybe even more-so now that I'm married with children. I moved to Denver for the summer and didn't have any close girlfriends to just hang with and I about died!
How true! I love it! Thanks for inviting me into your life. ;) Yay for talking about just hair for over a hour. lol.
