"The most courageous act is still to think for yourself. Aloud." -Coco Chanel

First The Killers, then banned books, now this.

Let me preface this hallelujah chorus with the declaration that I do not, repeat do NOT, make a habit of watching Lifetime movies. With my CW habit, that would be the final nail in the coffin that turns me into Abed on Community.

With that being said, the Lifetime Original Movie, Coco Chanel starring Shirley MacLaine?

J’ adore.

It was free on demand on my little Comcast setup for a while and I watched it no less than five (5) times. It’s a period romance film on steroids. It’s feminism and fashion and good love and bad love and long strings of pearls and bobbed haircuts.

And red lipstick, and French people, and some tweed…I dare say: this movie + charging hormones + chocolaty/salty snacks= perfect storm of womanly existence.

Innnyhoo, someone else made a Chanel movie. It’s got Audrey Tautou and subtitles; need I say more?

Ladies, with thanks to Oh, Hello Friend, I give you Coco Before Chanel. Bask in its glow.
