i have this thing about urban music. (i call it urban music because i know it makes me sound even more square than i really am.) i just can't take it seriously. the beats are so severe, the vocals are so shouty, and they're all about lipgloss, grillz and umbrellas.
the other day when i was looking for a way to put some music on my blog a la playlist.com (can't figure it out...would SURE love a tutorial), i came across a fab little singer named marie digby. among her folky pop music is a cute little number called umbrella.
of course we know that this is a rihanna song, but all we hear from her these days is "please don't stop the music." please do, actually. someone please, please stop the music.
marie digby's "umbrella" is a minimalist, sweet song with - get this - lyrics i can understand. it reminded me of how much i love the people close to me. all of you...you can stand under my umbrella. ella. ella. eh. eh. eh...
