after being out of makeup for a good 8+ weeks (i know, so gross!), i couldn’t take it anymore. i went to the MAC counter for a fresh bottle of hyper real foundation, the greatest foundation of all. i’ve been practicing some slogans for it:
hyper real: the most amazing foundation ever
hyper real: the foundation we will wear in heaven
hyper real: when you wear it no one will know you’re a total mess
hyper real: the foundation that is not made, but is collected when the energy that radiates from serena van der woodsen’s youthful, gorgeous smile is captured and bottled as something we mere mortals can have ourselves for a just 28 american dollars, in an array of warm and cool shades to compliment any skin tone.
i kind of like the last one.
so i’m looking and i don’t see it anywhere. lip quivering, i asked the girl in black with the heavy liquid eyeliner and the flower in her hair, “where is the hyper real?”
“it’s been discontinued,” she told me, a little to cheerfully.
“what?! when?!” i demanded.
“uh…a week ago?”
the rest of this story doesn’t really matter.
i’m languishing, friends. truly sad. i’ve never had a beauty product i love so be discontinued until now. has this ever happened to you? how did you cope?

I felt that way when they discontinued Pop Tart Pastry Swirls. My mom found the last remaining box at a grocery store nowhere close to our house... and then Mackenzie ate them all! Damn her! I've never quite gotten over it.
seriously, buy some on ebay! my sis-in-law works for a company that buys discontinued products and sells them on ebay. so, check it out. if you want. or you don't have to. whatever.
So, is it bad that I didn't notice you haven't had makeup on for a while? Seriously, you look great, so I wouldn't sweat it.
Plus, I'm sure Serena Van der Woodsen’s smiles have just been re-branded as another product. The trick will be to find it ...
I recently had this same feeling when I went to Sephora to get replacement eye shadow (Smashbox Butter). When I searched around and couldn't find it I finally asked someone and they told me it was discontinued. The girl ended up selling me a Stila eye shadow that she said was practically the same as Butter. It isn't. If you are looking for a fantastic foundation I HIGHLY recommend CARGO foundation. I have used it for years and I love it!
My question is why on earth did you go 8 weeks without make-up? I would have been down to the MAC counter STAT if I ran out. I'm not vain or anything, and I don't think I look that different without make-up, but one time when I was 15 I didn't have time to put on make-up before the family sedan headed off to church, and when I went to Sunday School this punk 14 year old said "what happened to your face?" I've never gone a day without make-up since.
Totally check ebay. I've had to do the same thing and found the motherlode on there. It's fab.
