was a question i was asked after coming back to my desk after sharpening all five (5) pencils i have at my workstation. i have been at my job a year and a half and have yet to sharpen a pencil. i even had to ask beckie if we had a pencil sharpener in the office.
i like writing with a pencil to scribble notes on the fly – my action items from a meeting, for example.
i don’t know why.
a shrink might say it stems back to my love for tom hanks and my hope that he would send me a bouquet of freshly sharpened pencils.
i associate the good old fashioned pencil with school (when it was fun, learning cursive and times tables…or maybe it was just the new school clothes), freshly fallen leaves, preppy scarves, tights with boots, daylight savings, caramel apples (have you had one yet this year? i have, and it was delightful) and my birthday.
speaking of which, what are you getting me for my birthday?

I don't know, I love the feel of a pencil in my hand. But when I am writing with a pencil, I am much more likely to start doodling, so all pens for me in the office.
How about...you can have the name Holly for your birthday, but you have to give it back for mine. :D
i love mechanical pencils. i also love erasers that you can retract just like a mechanical pencil. i love the fact that i can erase a mistake as opposed to scribbling ink out. i do it in meetings...i probably look like a 10 year old, but i still love it!

I'm apencil girl that way I can erase my mistakes! But at work I always use pens don't know why!
I love school supplies myself. Remember the pencil boxes and the way they smelled? (the sturdy cardboard kind...not the stupid plastic ones) ahhhh...I love the smell of a pencil. I wrote a little note with one this morning and the way is scratched on the paper made me smile. I think I'm going to use a pencil the rest of the day :)
