dove is definitely the bossiest of all the candies. the valentine’s day ones are especially brazen, imploring me to do all kinds of crazy stuff:
“sleep under the stars”
“cherish the romantic moments in your day”
“get swept away by love”
“laugh until your heart overflows” <--what the h is that supposed to mean?
sleep under the stars? yeah…and catch another cold? no, thanks.
as far as the second two…i’ll do those when i’m good and ready, thankyouverymuch.
and the last one, well, make of that what you will.
i challenge you to find a pushier brand of chocolate. also, good luck finding a tastier one. my grandmother gave me a bag of those dove darks with little toasted almond bits in them, and holy heart failure, batman. they are goo-ood.
you should go get some. i bet they’re on sale by now.

oh, yes, dove chocolates. i have a story for this one.
when i was in college and going through one of those times where there was not a boy to be found in my life and feeling very down about it and every girl around me had boys to spare but none for me, i opened a chocolate that said "moonlight and you- perfect together."
totally bummed me out. because dove is like a prophet and so i knew i would only ever have moonlight in my life. no boys. ever.
the end.
I got one that said, "Close out the world for just a moment." And I thought, "that was deep."
i concur...i have some of those from a coworker...and i have just about eaten them all...sad for me...must get more self control! side note: i am floored that i have not heard of the bird and the bee before...they make me speechless...your playlist will be the background for my workstation on this fabulous friday! thank you for that!
mmmm - dark chocolate, makes mouth water. No better treat than dark chocolate with a nutty surprise in the middle.
These are like bossy fortune cookies. Rather than phrasing it like everything is fate, they demand action.
I guess that's one way to get stuff to happen, but the nonconformist in me would ignore them out of principle.
i got one once that said "Be your own Valentine." probably the most depressing thing a piece of chocolate could ever say...though i bet the writer had a good laugh when it actually got printed.
