just promise me you'll visualize the before and after. the before: nothing on the walls, no tables, no rug, couches in horrid plaid in an array of jewel tones, tv on one of those 19.99 bachelor pad build-it-yourself jobs.
the after (keep in mind that i still need some lamps, more accessories, and definitely paint. not that i have the ambition for painting my rented apartment, but maybe i should):
loveseat with my favorite quilt (lucas scott used to have the same one on his bed), brown shag rug that my cute mom gave me, $3 end table i painted.
here's my couch, purple satin blanket i got at tjmaxx ages ago, old windows from emilie jayne, the cutest consignment store in slc, and throw pillows from where else - target. what color would you paint this wall??
chair that belonged to my great grandpa, recovered with a sassy shower curtain, table from d.i. that i painted, canvases i painted with wallpaper i framed in the middle, and some of my old stuff.
and that's what i've done so far. be sure to stay tuned for hollylynn's half-done kitchen/dining area in the coming weeks (unless this post depressed you so greatly that you have officially stopped following this blog).

Some paint is in order. It looks like something bold would work. However, covering it when you move will be a pain. May staple some sheets?
the nice thing is, i don't think i would have to paint over it when i left. the management has to approve the color scheme though, so i don't know how bold i could go.
I feel priveldged to tell everyone that I have been here and it looks superb and and totally has that Hollylynn touch. Ya did good. and depressing? no no. not at all.
Neutral tones look good with everything. A light taupe, perhaps? You would be surprised how much it will make the windows and baseboards pop. My bedroom is only slightly taupe and it's just enough.
If you go with the taupe (which is sure to be acceptable to the management), I would recommend an accent wall with a darker brown or something to bring out one of your accents, perhaps.
Also, I have a friend (Wendy Skinner)who just did this, and she painted the molding along the accent wall the taupe color, and the rest of the molding the accent color. It sounded strange, but it looks fabulous.
I know I'm a boy and should not be allowed to comment on home decor, fashion or emotional feelings in general, but I think it looks great.
That's as good as you're going to get from me because I don't dare broach the subject of paint colors. Inevitably, I'd choose something hideous.
The end.
so this funny thing happened to me tonight.
just as i was thinking i should spend more of my nights spending quality time reading or sleeping rather than blog-browsing and you tubing, i went on facebook. my friend has this status quote that i can't remember the origin of. i google the words "i would like to reward you with five minutes of uninterrupted eye contact," and next thing i know, im at your blog.
the next thing after that i know, it's 45 minutes later and im just blog archive reading away at "if i were really skinny."
so basically, thanks for the entertaining posts, i think you are funny.
i want those window things behind your couch! no really i do!
i love the colors! it spells comfort and peace of mind.
